SOCCER – forgotten path for India

Soccer also known as Association football is world’s most popular game. It is played between two teams on rectangular field of grass or artificial turf. The main aim of the game is to score maximum no of goals and the team which is able to do so wins the game. So it’s a great example of building tem spirit and competitive spirit among various persons who play this game. Even Mahatma Gandhi used soccer as one of the main important tool to spread his ideas. What most inspired him was the notion he had for nobility of the game, because of the idea of the tem play associated with the game. So father of our nation also had a great liking for the game but still INDIA-country of above one billion is ranked 157th in the world in the ranking list of FIFA(Federation International de football association) although INDIA had won gold medal during 50s and 60s and had also qualified for the World cup. The reason being
1)soccer is played only in few regions of the country mainly Kolkata.
(2) So many years of neglect leads to lack of availability of infrastructure and passion among the youth of the nation.
(3)Lack of club infrastructure presence
But there are plans to revitalize football in INDIA. Few states have started some initiatives. For e.g. “Delhi soccer association” has trained various school teams through professional coaches which are funded by FIFA and Asian Football Confederation. Similar kind of project is also undertaken in Manipur. Media has also started giving attention to it.ZEE Sports has signed 10 year deal with AIFF (All India football federation).Domestic football is more famous in Indian than Domestic cricket so more matches should be organized at regional level to promote the level of game. So if all plans are properly executed then India can certainly do well in this field
